Jean
Grunwald, RN, of Moriches, has been appointed to the Board of
Directors of the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition for Long
Island
(WIBCC). Jean has worked hand-in-hand with the WIBCC since its
inception through her role at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical
Center in West Islip. Jean recently retired from her 32-year career
at the Medical Center. She most recently served as the Vice President
of Community Relations and Marketing and as Director of the Breast
Health Center. She continues to work part-time as a consultant
for the Medical Center.
Jean
began her career as a nurse. She then went on to administrative
roles, mentoring future generations in their nursing and healthcare
careers. Devoted to community service, Jean started many programs
at Good Samaritan that brought many Long Island neighbors to health
fairs, lectures, and screenings.
Outside
of the Medical Center, Jean continues to serve on the Board for
both the American Heart Association and the Suffolk Chapter of
the Zonta Women’s Professional Organization. Jean is a member
of the West Islip, Islip, and Bay Shore Chambers of Commerce.
She especially enjoys teaching CPR on a regular basis to members
of the community.
Jean
and her husband, Gene, are the parents of four children. They
enjoy spending time with them and their seven grandchildren.
